Prime Minister PJ Patterson, in an
immediate reaction to the news, called Taylor "a great humanitarian"
who used his training and skills to advance the welfare of his
country men and women, and people everywhere through his work with
ORBIS.
"Dr Taylor's generosity of spirit
transcended geographic boundaries, a rare quality in today's world
where so many persons are more preoccupied with individual pursuits
and parochial interests. His contribution to the field of
ophthalmology has benefited many persons beyond our shores, but his
greatest contribution to humankind was his unselfish love and
compassion," said Patterson.
"Because of his work, people
experienced hope, overcame despair, and found new optimism. His
dedication and commitment to his work was a source of inspiration to
all who knew him.The life of the late Dr Garth Taylor is about a
compelling message of quiet dignity and sincerity.
In his own way, he was a tireless
campaigner for a better quality of life for the world's people,"
said the PM, as he offered condolences to Taylor's family,
colleagues and friends.
